AMENITIES COMMITTEE MINUTES OF IPPLEPEN PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON:

 

TUESDAY 11 MARCH 2025

The meeting opened at 19:05 hours

  1. The Chairman opened the Meeting and received apologies.

Public Question Time: A period of 10 minutes will be allowed for members of the public to ask questions or make comment regarding the work of the Council or other items that affect Ipplepen

  1. The Council convened to conduct the following business on the Agenda:
  2. CCTV and Park toilet repair update

RC advised new cameras and recorder being installed Fri 14th. Central locking on toilet block still not working after power surge issue. Hand driers being replaced due to power surge damage

  1. Bowden Rd roundabout update

DP to carryout another letterdrop to residents reminding them that parking is prohibited on the grassed roundabout . Suggestion made to instal/position rock on grassed area to prevent parking

  1. Mill Centre inspection

DB to liaise with Cllr Farrow to arrange Saturday morning date for survey to be carried out

  1. Salt and sandbag stocks

JR to check stock in shed to determine if replenishment required

  1. Park play equipment update and (climbing cone).

SL met Chris from Outdoor Play. SL reported that roundabout in recreation ground defective. Chris has advised that the existing roundabout is for wheelchair access but, pathway not suitable so needs to be replaced with standard roundabout.

Some slide steps found to be defective. Quotation to be provided for repair.

Roundabout in Tremlett play park defective-potentially requires replacing.

Seating benches need repairs-some have memory nameplates. RC to ask Cat if relatives still present in village for who memorial plaques have been installed

SL to make proposals for discussion at next full PC meeting

  1. Park toilet cladding.

RC advised that to date, one quote had been obtained. Awaiting additional quotations from potential contractors.  Preference at this stage is for replacement timber cladding, as existing, due to higher costs of alternative cladding materials.

  1. DEVON AIR AMBULANCE survey

RC advised no response as yet from DAA survey to confirm if lighting still working ok after power surge

  1. DCC – Urban Grass Cutting Agreement 2025/2026

RC has asked Cat to check what qualifications are required to ensure existing contractor is suitably qualified in line with DCC contractual expectations and legal liabilities

  1. AOB

Cricket Club fence requires replacing. Agreed to advise Cat to report back to Cricket Club and agree with their proposal to share costs at 50%. RC to liaise with Cat re responding to Cricket Club re quotations and cost of works required to be carried out
